ROUND-UP
Unfortunately we lost the top spot in Division One a fortnight ago when we went down 2-1 at home to rivals Andover New Street. It was particularly disappointing as we took an early lead through top scorer Brett Denham after dominating most of the first half. But a penalty (our 3rd conceded in a row) and a direct free kick late in the second half saw our visitors leave with the three points. However, it was really pleasing to see a crowd of 151 at the match (here's hoping you all come back!) and a special thank you to our Under 12 lads who were kind enough to be ball boys on the day.
We were hoping for the opportunity to get back to the summit last Saturday, but disappointingly our match away at Romsey Town fell victim to the weather. This weekend we make the trip to US Portsmouth where we often have a difficult match.
Our Reserve side had an excellent 7-1 win over Alton last Saturday. Darryl Phillips kept up his scoring form with a superb hat-trick along with goals from Ian Cadman, Charlie Cunningham, Connor Thorne and Adam Bartlett to secure the points. Frustratingly their mid-week match in the North Hants Senior Cup was called off after Overton United Reserves withdrew from the competition and their league match at home to Petersfield Town Reserves has also been called off at the request of our opponents.
