Match Report: Horndean vs Tadley Calleva
Tadley Calleva were looking to build on Tadley’s 2-1 win over Hamble Club on Saturday as they travelled down to Horndean. The first goal was a repeat of Saturday’s as Glasspool took a free kick for Horndean and scored. The free kick from the near right corner had managed to beat Sean O’Brien giving Horndean the lead after only 13 minutes. There was almost an instant reply for the away side as a superb free kick from Andrew Charsley was parried onto the post by Ross Casey.
In the 36th minute, there were appeals for a penalty in favour of Tadley as what looked like a blatant handball wasn’t given. Six minutes later, Charsley was in the thick of it once again as his shot was kept of the line. However, once again it looked like the defender used his hand to stop the ball from going in and once again it wasn’t given. Tadley went in 1-0 down at half time and a big second half performance was needed to change it around.
At half time, Danny Dolan brought on Kai Parton-Edey for Adam Alliston in the search for an equaliser. They didn’t wait long for that equaliser, as Tadley were level after only 3 minutes into the second half. Brett Denham crossed from the right hand side and his cross was flicked on by Sam Hamilton. The ball found Jake Nicholls at the edge of the area who managed to caress the ball home.
The equaliser was short lived because on the 50thminute mark a defensive error allowed Jackson to slot home. To make matters worse, 2 minutes later a cross from the right hand side was diverted in by Tadley Captain Shaun Dallimore. Tadley had it all to do but with over half an hour left, it was possible.
The difficult task was made incredibly harder as Danny Vickers was given his marching orders after a harsh red card was given. A Horndean player had his foot by Vickers’ head, causing Vickers to take a heavy touch and then slid in to win the ball. The referee adjudged the tackle to be dangerous so Vickers was sent off.
While Tadley were looking to get back into the game, Hordean got their fourth. Glasspool got his second of the game in the 86th minute well and truly finishing the game off. The contest finished 4-1 leaving Tadley in 10th with 20 points.
